Winemaker Extraordinaire is a puzzle game developed by Merscom Media. The storyline will appear familiar to those who have played Chocolatier and other similar games.
In this game the character you will control (Maria Buenaventura) will be in charge of a winery. The beginning of the game is very similar to a current movie with an Australian actor. Maria received a letter from a lawyer telling her that now she is the owner of a vineyard in Italy, which was property of her now dead grandfather. After that, she decided to go to the vineyard. There she gets to know the first of fifteen members of the Guild of Extraordinary Winemakers, an organization that fell apart many years ago due to greed and selfishness.
As you can imagine she has to learn absolutely everything about making wine, selecting grapes, choosing blends, buying bottles to bottle the wine, designing labels and of course selling the products. Speaking about blends, at the beginning you will only have two blend options: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, then you will be able to have some more. But only If you collect enough money. As you progress in the game, new locations in Germany, France, Australia and other countries will be unlocked, and you get the chance to purchase five more wineries altogether, allowing you to make more profits and to expand your variety of wine blends.
There are three mini-games that really spice up the game - although they are basically simple match-three puzzles. The graphics of the game are very nice, as is the soundtrack - however repetitive. The game play is simple as you will only use your mouse. In conclusion, this is a really nice game, and I think that you will enjoy it as much as I did.
